June Teasdale Nelson
June Teasdale Nelson, age 73, of Eau Claire, Wis., passed away on July 1, 2012, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. Her family by her side with the love of her life husband, Gary, holding her hand.

June was born in Tyler on June 15, 1939, to Joe and Hazel (Gaiser) Teasdale. She married Gary Nelson on Aug. 16, 1958. They were high school sweethearts with their love for each other as strong as it was from the very first day they met!

June was our “Yellow Rose of Texas,” “The Queen” & very proudly “Kentucky Colonel.”

Throughout her life she always made things extra special and wonderful. She loved spending time with family and always delighted in sharing the latest news of what her children or grandchildren were doing.

June loved antiques, flea markets, car shows and being chauffeured around by Gary in her 1948 Chevrolet convertible. Our family has suffered a great loss. She had her own signature flare to everything and was the sparkle, the bedazzle, and the bling of all our lives! Her great joy was attending the Kentucky Derby. She was a true Kentucky Colonel and she attended with impeccable fashion complete with dress, hat and matching shoes! The happiest of memories of her in her poodle skirt, bobby socks, saddle shoes dancing the night away with her sweetheart Gary.

June is survived by her husband of 53 years, Gary L. Nelson; daughter, Gwendolyn (John) Saxe; son, Todd L. (Karen) Nelson; twin brothers, Lewis “Little” Teasdale and Louie “Big” Teasdale; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Michael) Fuerst, Timothy Saxe, Katharyn Saxe, Jonathan Nelson and Anna Nelson; sister-in-law, Patricia Nelson; and foster daughters, Ginny Guthrie and Vivian Moen. She was blessed with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that were inspirational and gave her their strength to fight the cancer that finally claimed her life.

She is preceded in death by her father, Joe L. Teasdale, and mother, Hazel Halvorson; stepfather, Milford Halvorson; and sister, Patricia Bunch.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 8, 2012, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., Eau Claire, Wis., 54703. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 9, 2012, at Grace Lutheran Church, 202 W. Grand Ave., Eau Claire, with Pastor Rolf Nestingen officiating. Interment will be in Eleva Cemetery, Eleva, Wis.
