Tyler police were questioning a retired dentist Friday night in connection with the shooting death of his 71-year-old wife at their home in the 3400 block of Allen Drive in southeastern Tyler.

Don Martin, Tyler police spokesman, identified the deceased as Rosiland Nichols and her husband as Bobby Nichols, 75.

Martin said a 911 call came in at 9:20 p.m. in which the husband said he shot his wife.

Tyler police were questioning the husband late Friday, but no charges had been filed as of Friday night and no arrests had been made.

Martin said an argument led to the shooting.
