GILMER — Jury selection for the murder trial of Sharon Anne Maxwell has been set for Aug. 13 in the 115th District Court, Upshur County District Attorney Billy Byrd said Thursday.

Mrs. Maxwell, 44, of Ore City, is charged with shooting her 10th husband, 46-year-old Gordon Lynn Maxwell, Aug. 30. Maxwell’s body was found in a burned car at the couple’s Ore City area home, but an autopsy showed he died of a gunshot wound, Byrd said.

Mrs. Maxwell, who is also known by several aliases, remained in county jail under $500,000 bond Thursday, the district attorney said. Court-appointed Gilmer attorney Matthew Patton represents her.

A pre-trial hearing in the case is scheduled July 25.

The victim, Gordon Maxwell, was a minister and employee of U.S. Steel in Lone Star, Byrd said.
