ROSES: To the officer who was watching for speeders on Robert E. Lee on June 18, thank you. I was speeding and not wearing a seat belt while taking my 12-year-old cat to the vet to be put to sleep. He stopped me, and rightfully so. But he showed his true humanity, looking at me in tears and the sick cat wrapped in a towel in my lap, and told me to be careful. I deserved the ticket, but he saw my grief and showed that he was a true humanitarian.

Thank you again, for not only making me wait longer and giving me a ticket, but for your compassion. It’s good karma. And it comes back around.
