Overworked Clerks?, June 24
RANT: Today I spent three hours at the Department of Public Safety office while my granddaughter registered for a driving permit.
I moved to Tyler in 1966, and the population has grown. Smith County covers a large area, and people living in north Tyler have a long way to travel to Spur 248, the DPS center.
Doesn’t it make good sense that another office be opened in north Tyler to relieve the congestion at Spur 248? Sure, this would take state funds but as much that is wasted on nonessentials such as the medians. I see this project as a necessity.
And about the medians, they’re so “practical” for those making u-turns at the intersections. This maneuver is illegal in most states.
Send roses to the overworked clerks who must share my frustration.
