WOMEN’S CHOICE
WomenCertified awarded Trane, a global provider of indoor comfort systems and solutions and a brand of Ingersoll Rand, with the 2012 Women’s Choice Award in the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Systems Category.

Trane’s Tyler facility employs more than 1,660 salaried and production employees, who manufacture air conditioners.

The award was based on a WomenCertified Brand Preference Survey developed in part through a joint study with the Wharton School of Business. WomenCertified, the voice of the female consumer, honors brands with the Women’s Choice Award seal that recognizes brands based on a woman’s propensity to recommend that brand to others. More than 5,000 female consumers were surveyed about their favorite HVAC brands, and Trane came out on top. As part of the award process, home improvement professionals were also asked their opinion in the WomenCertified Consumer Audit to validate the survey findings.

SILVER AWARD
Eastman Chemical Company, which has a Longview facility, received a Silver Stevie Award in the 2012 American Business Awards for Company of the Year — Chemicals.

The American Business Awards, held in New York, are the nation’s premier business awards program. All organizations operating in the U.S.A. are eligible to submit nominations — large and small, public and private, for-profit and nonprofit.

Jim Rogers, chairman and chief executive officer of Eastman, said 2011 was a record year for the company, marked by many significant achievements, strong financial performance and growth through acquisitions and expansions. Eastman was nominated for the award based on the company’s achievements since the beginning of 2011. More than 3,000 nominations were submitted for consideration in a wide range of categories. Stevie Award winners were selected by more than 270 executives nationwide.
