Pro-Alcohol Group Says It Has Enough Signatures For Ballot Issue
By ADAM RUSSELL
Staff Writer

The Buy Local First political action committee will turn in more than 7,800 signatures needed to have local alcohol option propositions placed on November ballots this afternoon at city hall, said the group’s spokesperson Laura Krantz.

The petitions will be for a local option election to allow the legal sale of beer and wine for off-premise consumption within the city limits. Another would expand mixed beverage sales to annexed portions of the city.

The county Election Department will have 30 days to verify the signatures. If enough valid signatures were collected, 7,800, the county commissioners court will place the proposal on ballots.
