Tropical Plant Angel’s Trumpets Grows Nicely In East Texas Gardens

Warmer winters have allowed us to introduce several tropical plants into our gardens and this beautiful Brugmansia is just one.
Brugmansia, better known as Angel’s Trumpets grows very large, (6- to12-foot tall, and wide) and provides us with these exotic peach-colored blooms in early summer and again in fall.
Just look at this gorgeous pendant bloom and imagine a shrub covered with these lovely trumpets. Now, the luscious color and huge size of the trumpets would be reason enough to own one of these beauties, but take a whiff.
The soft aroma is heavenly. What fun to see something so magnificent.

Angel’s Trumpets come in this luscious pinky peach as well as white and yellow. Easily grown, they only ask for good rich well-drained soil.
They will grow in full sun, but prefer a little afternoon shade. They are not drought tolerant.
That means plenty of water in our hot summers is necessary for their well-being.
Fertilize every two weeks while they are in bloom, then stand back and watch these beautiful blooms unfurl.
