Lon Morris College's Athletic Department Closes

Lon Morris College's athletic department has been closed, Dale Dotson, the school's long-time athletic director and head basketball coach, confirmed late Tuesday.
Lon Morris has had financial problems for months. Many employees were not paid, and last month the school was shut down for the summer, and many staff members were placed on furlough.

The college president, Dr. Miles McCall, also tendered his resignation in late May.
Dotson said the closure of the athletic department will affect about 300 students, and they were in the process of contacting them Tuesday night.
The NJCAA also has been contacted about the closure.
A call from the Tyler Morning Telegraph to Dawn Ragan, chief restructuring officer, for more information late Tuesday night was not returned.
Earlier in the day, Ms. Ragan said a press release was being prepared and would be distributed within 24 hours.
