Tyler ISD Recognizes Coca-Cola Bottling
Tyler ISD has said a big “Thank You” to Coca-Cola Bottling Co. for its longtime support of the district’s science program.

For 10 years, the company has helped deliver and pick up hands-on science kits at all of TISD’s 17 elementary schools, according to a district news release.

Each kit, knows as a Full Option Science System, or FOSS, contains materials that students can use to complete different science experiments.

Linda Benolken, TISD’s science coordinator, presented a plaque to Jimmy Hicks, Coca-Cola market development manager, and his crew to recognize them for their dedication and support of TISD’s science program.

“We are so very grateful for their willingness to constantly go above and beyond,” Ms. Benolken said, according to the news release. “Because of them, our elementary students receive an enhanced science education complete with interactive, engaging activities.”

Hicks, a John Tyler High School alumnus, said the company values students’ academic success.
“We want to give back to this community, and being a part of this project has enabled us to do that,” he said, according to the news release.

In addition to the Coca-Cola partnership, TISD students in John Tyler’s Life Skills program organize the kits and replenish them so that they are ready for other campuses to use. They work under the guidance of Life Skills teacher June Allen.
