UT Tyler Catholic Community Gets $133,000 In Grants
The Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Roman Catholic Church and The University of Texas at Tyler Catholic Campus Community received building grants totaling $133,000.

“We are proud to partner with the Diocese of Tyler to provide funding to support the expansion of a church and the establishment of a campus ministry where local college students can remain true to the Catholic faith,” Catholic Extension President Father Jack Wall said in a written release. “We recognize that the people of this diocese have enormous passion for their ministry and commitment to the growth of the Catholic faith.”

The Catholic Extension is a national organization that provides funding to dioceses and parishes through programs and services investing in people, infrastructure and ministries, according to the written release.

The Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Roman Catholic Church met the organization’s matching challenge, and received $50,000 to renovate its facility to seat 100 more people and make the church more energy efficient.
The second grant is a matching challenge to The University of Texas at Tyler Catholic Campus Community to raise $83,000. The funds will help pay for a facility that can be used by Catholic students at both universities, according to the release.
