Trane, Union Renew Contract
Unionized employees working for the Ingersoll Rand company's Trane brand reached an employment agreement Thursday.
A news release issued by the company provided no details on the deal, other than a statement from the plant manager of the Tyler facility.
"We are pleased by the vote outcome," plant manager Mike Swift said. "This new contract provides competitive wages and benefits for our employees while providing the business the flexibility needed to make us competitive in the marketplace."
The contract came up for renewal on June 8, and union officials voted on the terms of a new contract.
Ingersoll Rand spokeswoman Maria Weber said that vote came to a tie and the contract was renegotiated and voted on Thursday.
"We're pleased that it went through," she said by phone late Thursday night.
Ms. Weber said she could not share specific details of the new contract.
According to the news release, the Tyler facility employs more than 1,660 salaried and production employees, who manufacture air conditioners.
Union members are represented by Local 86782 of the International Union of Electronic and Electrical Workers/Communications Workers of America, according to the release.
The new contract replaces one agreed on by the union and company in 2009.
