Man Charged With Intoxication Assault In Crash
An early morning accident left one man in critical condition in a Tyler hospital and another in jail for intoxication assault.
Tyler police said they responded to Loop 323 and Troup Highway about 12:07 a.m. on an accident.
Police said witnesses told them that a small four-door car driven by 23-year-old Casey Patterson was traveling westbound on Loop 323 in the left turn lane preparing to turn south onto Troup Highway when his vehicle was struck by a Chevrolet truck driven by 24-year-old Lawrence Woodham, who was eastbound on Loop 323 and failed to stop for a red light.
Both subjects were transferred to East Texas Medical Center where Patterson remained critical Wednesday.
Woodham sustained minor injuries and was subsequently arrested on intoxication assault charges and booked into the Smith County Jail.
Smith County records indicate Woodham was arrested in December for driving while intoxicated.
