Mary Elizabeth Dorris
Services for Mary Elizabeth Dorris, 84, Kilgore, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, June 3, at Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel, Overton, with the Revs. Atwell Hankins and Charles Scarborough officiating. Entombment will be in Rusk County Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Dorris entered Heaven at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012. She was born Oct. 2, 1927, in Leonard to the late Christopher C. Robins and Marie Robins.

She moved to Kilgore at a young age. She met and married Howard Bryant Dorris on April 9, 1944, in Henderson. She was a lifetime resident of the Overton area.

Mrs. Dorris was a longtime member of the First Assembly of God Church of Overton, where she served as pianist for 55 years. She was a seamstress and manager of Davis Manufacturing and continued serving the public until her death. She was a wonderful cook and was known for her family Sunday dinners.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Howard B. Dorris, on May 15, 2010; two sons, Richard Howard Dorris in 2002 and Robert “Bob” Bryant Dorris in 2000; and by four brothers and a sister.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Cindi and Ronnie Sartors, Overton; daughters-in-law, Jean Dorris, Liberty City, and Carmen Dorris, Longview; granddaughter, Amber Sartors; grandson, Christopher Sartors and wife Stacie Sartors; granddaughters and spouses, Kim and Gary Patocka, Sandee and Michael Sidener, and Pam and John Roder; 11 great-grandchildren; and brothers and sisters, Jerald Robins, Jackie Robins, Connie Mack Robins of Baytown, and Christine Doss and Doretha Ingram of Kilgore.

Pallbearers will be Sam Bain, Mike Cox and grandsons, Christopher Sartors, Michael Sidener, Gary Patocka and John Roder.

Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Brigmon, Vernon Hughes, Jerome Walters and Richard Welch.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 2.
