Smith County Sheriff’s Race: Campaign Finance Report
Candidates for Smith County sheriff reported more than $144,000 in combined campaign funding between Jan. 18 and April 29. Republican candidates Bobby Garmon, Chris Green, Donn Rust and Larry Smith will face each other in the May 29 GOP Primary.

If a single candidate does not receive more than 50 percent of the vote, the two top vote-getters will face each other in a July run-off. If a single candidate emerges with more than 50 percent of the vote, he will become the next sheriff because there is no Democrat running in the November general election.

Here is a rundown of who is financing the candidates and how they are spending the money. The individual donations and expenditures reflect the latest reporting period between Jan. 1 and April 30.

GARMON
Garmon received $23,596.95 during the reporting period. He spent $16,463 and maintained $27,312 as of the last reporting day. Garmon has received $108,000 in total funding since he announced his candidacy.
