Jacksonville To Hold One Day Super Sale May 19

Shoppers are expected to have plenty of items to choose from as they browse through a 75766 One Day Super Sale event in Jacksonville.
The event, planned by the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce, is slated for May 19 during the 50th Annual Tops In Texas Rodeo Western Week activities. Businesses, churches, civic clubs and individuals are encouraged to participate.
Chamber President Peggy Renfro said they can do that by having a garage sale at home, a business sidewalk sale or purchasing space in the Norman Activity Center parking lot, 526 E. Commerce St. A 10-by-10 booth space is $10, and tables are available for an additional $5. Items can be new or used.

“The purpose is to just have the community as a whole conduct a sale whether it’s a church or business or individual who doesn’t have enough items for a garage sale to come downtown and join others,” she said. “It’s just a fun day to get out and have bargains. …We want an awareness of what we have in our community and the deals we can have on Saturday during Western Week.”
Last year, about 20 booths were on-hand for the event, and it turned out to be a good thing for those participating, Ms. Renfro said. Some participants even split their proceeds, giving half of the proceeds to the Kiwanis Club and half to nonprofit Helping Others Pursue Enrichment.
“So it’s a great way to give back to your community,” Ms. Renfro said.

This year, sales begin at 7 a.m. in the Norman Activity Center parking lot, and times for individual garage sales can vary. Information on garage sale locations will be available at the activity center.
