Neches River Cleanup Set For Sunday
The third annual Neches River Sweep will be noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at Chandler’s River Park on Texas Highway 31 at the Neches River Bridge.

The event will be an opportunity to explore River Park and the nature of the Neches River besides helping clean up the area, officials said.

“People are asked to pick up litter and to come with a willingness to do some good for their community and enjoy nature,” Anthony Rivera, organizer, said.

There will be 72 free T-shirts available along with hot dogs, chips and cold drinks. The T-shirts and food will be free on a first-come, first-served basis until they run out.

The city of Chandler will provide trash dumpsters.

People are encouraged to bring whatever will help them in their trash pickup, Rivera said.

Trash can be collected from the shoreline or from the water using canoes or kayaks.

“Our main goal is to get as much litter picked up, bagged and thrown away as possible,” Rivera said.
