A former Bullard police officer will plead guilty to charges related to his confession of having sex with a Bullard High School student in 2009, according to information presented in the 241st District Court this morning. Prosecutors and defense attorneys this morning declined to comment on the specifics of the plea of Steven Wayne Morris, 27.

Judge Jerry Calhoon is sitting in for Judge Jack Skeen Jr. this week while Skeen is involved with the selection of prospective jurors for a capital murder case.

Morris' arrest on charges of sexual assault of a child came, a second degree felony, in 2010 came after following a four-month Texas Rangers investigation.

Morris was arrested in August 2010, after he confessed to having sex with the student in the backseat of the student's vehicle in the summer of 2009, according to Texas Ranger Sgt. Brent Davis' arrest affidavit. He is expected to enter his plea on April 13.
