James Bradford
Graveside services for James Thomas Bradford, 91, of Chandler, are scheduled for 2 p.m.
Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at Chandler Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Jeff McDonald officiating. Burial will be in Chandler Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Chandler Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Bradford was received into the arms of our Lord March 11, 2012, in Tyler, after a brief illness. He was born May 9, 1920, in Chandler. He was greeted at the gates of Heaven by his wife of 35 years, Juanita Thomas Bradford; parents, James Arthur and Lauretta Bradford; brother, Durward Bradford; sister-in-law, Jackie Bradford; brother-in-law, Seburn Cason; nephew, Larry Cason; and stepdaughter, De Aun Busby.
Thomas lived in San Antonio for 45 years, working for Firestone Tires, where he retired. He remained in San Antonio until 2009 when he moved back to his roots in Chandler. He will be remembered for his love of good Bob Wills music and watching “Gunsmoke” reruns. He also loved to watch the San Antonio Spurs play basketball.
He is survived by his sister, Estine Cason, of Castroville; brother, Russell and sister-in-law Geraldine Gibbs Bradford, of Chandler; brother-in-law, Gene and Addie May Horton, of Denver, Colo.; nieces, Janice Cason Wolters and husband Larry, Beverly Bradford Deaton and husband Tom, Lynda Bradford May and husband David, Gayle Bradford Plackemeier and husband Ron, M’Lissa Bradford Howen and husband Steve and Chris Cason, widow of Larry Cason. Thomas also was a great-uncle to 11 nephews and nieces and a great-great-uncle to four.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of The Hospice of East Texas for their kind, loving and wonderful care in the last days of his life. They also would like to thank Jeff McDonald and Ken Reid for their visits.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at 1 p.m. prior to the service at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Hospice of East Texas Foundation, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, 75701.
