A $25 million bond election for Tyler Junior College could be on the May election ballot.
The college’s board of trustees is scheduled to vote on calling the bond election during an 11 a.m. meeting Thursday.
The meeting, which is open to the public, will take place in the White Administrative Services Center Board Room on the TJC main campus, 1400 E. Fifth St.
A 10 a.m. board workshop in the Board Conference Room will precede the meeting.
Last year, TJC President Dr. Mike Metke said the college was launching a $50 million public-private campaign to fund an allied health building and parking garage.
The building would replace the current health sciences facility, located in Pirtle Technology, and would allow the college to update its programs with state-of-the-art technology, Metke said at the time.
The college wanted to raise $12.5 million in private donations, $12.5 million from certain student fees and $25 million from taxpayer-funded bonds.
