Banking Blues, Feb. 19
RANT: While I have never voiced my opinion about companies in the past, l feel compelled to do so today concerning Bank of America. I was a loyal B of A customer for more than 20 years with them holding my checking, savings, and mortgage accounts. Recently, I refinanced my home with another bank, and chose to move my accounts from B of A to another bank. After closing my accounts at Bank of America, I received a check from Bank of America, refunding a small escrow amount. This was a Bank of America check from Bank of America. I went to Bank of America to cash the small check that was made out to both my wife and I, having had her sign the back of the check before taking it to the bank. First I went to the drive-in window and was told that I had to go inside, as the drive-in is for customers with accounts only. After going inside, and waiting in line for eight to 10 minutes, I am told by the teller that in order for them to cash their check, both my wife and I must be present in the bank. This did not sit well, but with trying to deal with their policies, my wife and I both returned to Bank of America this morning with this small check to again try and cash it. Today after a lengthy examination of our driver’s licenses, I was told by the teller that there was a $6 charge for cashing a Bank of America Check, issued by Bank of America, at a Bank of America.

I for one will never deal with this bank again, and hope that this letter can be a warning to the residents of Tyler about how Bank of America operates.
