Women’s Symphony League Of Tyler Will Hold 40s Themed Evening
The Women's Symphony League of Tyler plans to evoke the glamour and glitz of a high society party at this year's annual benefit ball.

"We promise an evening reminiscent of the champagne elegance of the ballroom at the Plaza Hotel evoking the 1940s sophistication of big bands, high society and elegant fashions," according to a statement from Chatherine Harrison and Treacey Smith, the ball chairwomen.

"A Black & White Ball, An Evening at the Plaza" is set for 7 p.m. March 2 at Harvey Convention Center.

The night will include dining, dancing, drawings, games and live entertainment, the announcement said.

The evening will be catered by FRESH by Brookshires and Emerald City will provide music for dancing.

Patrons will have a chance to purchase one of 50 gift boxes donated by LeaAnn Ramsey of Ramsey Fritz Jewels. Each box will hold merchandise or a gift certificate valued at least $75. One box will hold a pendant necklace and earring suite, set in 14-karat gold and featuring more than 10 carets of cushion gold citrines accented in diamonds.

The League is also offering a chance to win a gold and diamond necklace with a diamond and quartz pendant and diamond earrings valued at more than $6,500. The jewelry is designed by In Style by Rafael and was donated by Murphey the Jeweler in Tyler. Tickets to the drawing cost $20 or six for $100 and are on sale at Murphey the Jeweler, 4921 S. Broadway Ave., and by the WSL. The drawing will be held at the ball.

The silent auction includes more than 80 items including a trip to New York with accommodation at the Plaza, signed sports memorabilia, spa packages, and works of art.

Tickets must be reserved. To make a reservation, contact Lucy Easley easleylucy@yahoo.com or 903-570-8800. More information is available on ETSO's website, wsltyler.org.

The League promotes and supports the East Texas Symphony Orchestra and music education.

The ball also marks the formal presentation of the Junior Symphony League senior class. The following Junior Symphony League members will be presented.
