Councilman Wright Files For Re-Election
Tyler City Councilman Jason Wright filed paperwork this week to retain his position as the District 6 representative.
The small business owner is a native East Texan from Sulphur Springs, but he's proud to call Tyler home, according to a prepared statement on the city's website.
“I can honestly say I hand-picked Tyler,” he said in the statement. “When I set out to leave the Fortune 500 world I specifically chose Tyler as my adopted hometown to purchase a business and raise a family. I can say without hesitation it was one of the best decisions I've ever made and God has truly blessed us through that decision.”
Wright could not be reached for comment.
He is the broker/owner of CENTURY 21 First Group with offices in Tyler and Lindale.

One of Wright's professional passions centers on personal property rights at the federal and state level, records show.
He helped strike down some Texas lawmakers' desire to implement a transfer tax on real estate which could have needlessly added to the already unbalanced burden of property owners to fund government, according to the statement.
The businessman also worked to halt government reach into private property rights.
He is past president of the Greater Tyler Association of Realtors and Tyler Sunrise Rotary Club and CENTURY 21 East Texas Broker's Council.
Other community involvement includes these organizations: Executive Board of Directors of the Texas Association of Realtors, Tyler YMCA Board of Directors, Tyler Chamber Membership Drive, Budget and Finance Committee of the Texas Association of Realtors, Texas Association of Realtors Political Involvement Committee and Issues Mobilization Committee, Leadership Tyler Class of 23, Crossing the World Ministries and Grassroots America: We the People.
He and wife, Carrie, are both graduates of Stephen F. Austin State University.
The couple has two daughters.
The family attends Green Acres Baptist Church.
