Landscape, Gardening Conference On Saturday
Green thumbs can treat themselves to an early spring on Saturday by attending the 19th annual East Texas Spring Landscape and Gardening Conference at the Tyler Rose Garden Center.
The event is offered to the public by the Smith County Environmental Horticulture Committee, the Texas AgriLife Extension Service and Tyler Parks and Recreation.
Moderators include gardening expert Keith Hansen, county extension agent-horticulture, and Craig Reiland, Rose Garden supervisor.
On-site registration starts at 7:30 a.m.; programming is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a break for lunch. Pre-registration is not offered.
The cost to attend is $35 per person and includes the noon meal.
Speakers and topics include Dr. David Reed, on figuring out plant needs; Carmen Wagner, Tillandsias or "air plants;" Malcolm Beck, composting; Dee Bishop and Anne Brown, firewise landscaping; and Keith Hansen, Daniel Duncum, Keith Mills, dealing with drought.
The event includes door prizes, exhibits and vendors.
