Golf Fundraiser Scheduled Feb. 27
It’s never too cold to play golf.
Just ask Tyler Parks and Recreation officials who are wrapping up details for the 8th Annual Polar Bear Classic Golf Tournament, benefiting the department.
“Funds raised from this event benefit the many free events and programming for young, adults and seniors,” Special Events Manager Debbie Isham said.
The event will be Feb. 27 at The Cascades Golf Club in Tyler, but deadline for entry is Feb. 22.

Prizes are to be awarded for first-, second- and third-place teams; as well as the four-man scramble.
Fees are $400 per team or $100 for individuals.
“This year is key on this tournament to receive big money,” Ms. Isham said. “Costs for programming have gone up for us.”
Proceeds are used to fund activities such as Movies in the Park, Concert in the Park and Holiday in the Park.
The city’s summer playground program and Tyler Senior Center also benefit, she said.
“Even though we are the city, events are not free for us,” Ms. Isham said. “That’s why we rely on events such as this tournament … it helps lower our costs.”
Online registration is available at www.tylerparksandrec.com or cityoftyler.org. For more information, call 903-531-1214.
