Firefighters Respond To TMT Smoke
A ladder truck, three engines and a district fire chief responded to the Tyler Morning Telegraph building, 410 W. Erwin St., after smoke was reported Tuesday night.
Employees in the newsroom called the department at 8:45 p.m. after a burning smell and smoke came from air-conditioning vents.
District Fire Chief Joey Wiggins said the smell was most likely caused by a faulty air-conditioning unit on the building's roof.
When motors in the units begin going out, it is not uncommon for them to "burn a little" and continue working, then burn a little more, he said.
No injuries or damage to the building were reported.
