Filing Begins For Tyler ISD, TJC Board Board Positions
Filing has begun for the Tyler Junior College and Tyler ISD boards of trustees.
Three at-large places on the nine-member TJC board are available and as of Monday afternoon the three incumbents had filed.

These include John Hills, 62, a Tyler engineer, Place 4; Mike Coker, 52, a Tyler attorney, Place 5; and Lonny Uzzell, 58, a Tyler banker, Place 6.
TJC trustees are elected to six-year terms and serve without financial compensation. In order to file for a position on the TJC board, the candidate must live in the TJC tax district.
This district includes portions of Chapel Hill, Tyler and Van school districts as well as all of Grand Saline, Lindale and Winona districts.

Filing paperwork is available on the Texas Secretary of State’s website or from Ellen Matthews in the TJC president’s office on the third floor of the White Administrative Services Center on the TJC main campus, 1400 E. Fifth St.
All paperwork must be submitted to Ms. Matthews by 5 p.m. March 5. Her office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

In Tyler ISD, single member District 5 and single member District 7 are available on the seven-member board. No one had filed for the positions as of early Monday.
