ROSES: As chair of the 2012 Parent Services Center annual parenting conference, “Kids With Character,” I was inspired by the cooperative efforts of so many in our community who made this conference possible.

One hundred and sixty local and regional participants heard Stacy DeWitt, sought-after speaker and author, share ideas and strategies promoting ethical, self-reliant and inspired children. To those participants, roses for aspiring to become better parents and caretakers of our children and for giving up a Saturday to do it.

Bouquets to our sponsors who, through their generous donations, made the conference available and affordable to all: UT Tyler, Southside Bank, At Home Healthcare, Louis and Joseph Ornelas, ETMC, Henry & Peters, R.L. This conference would not have been possible were it not for the time, effort, and motivation of Shelley Judd, executive director, and Shirley McLeod of Parent Services Center, who worked with our dedicated board, generous underwriters and volunteers to organize the conference.
