Cancer Society Recruiting Teams For Annual Relay
The Smith County chapter of the American Cancer Society continues to recruit teams for the annual Relay for Life event on April 20, chapter officials said.
This year’s event theme is “Make Cancer History,” so each team will pick a time period or event in history, and decorate their areas and dress themselves accordingly.

Relay for Life will have contests, prizes and pre-relay events such as a garage sale and an opportunity to make tips while waiting tables at a local restaurant. In addition to needing more teams, event organizers are seeking a $5,000 sponsor.
Event organizers will have a team meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the America Cancer Society offices, 1301 S. Broadway Ave., and team captains are encouraged to attend. Free pizza and drinks will be provided.
During the meeting, information will be exchanged between the committee and team captains, and new teams can be signed up. Team fundraising tips will be given.
Relay for Life will start at 7 p.m. April 20 and end at 7 a.m. the next morning.
