Grateful Response, Jan. 22
ROSES: My wife and I had been to Denton County recently to visit children and grandchildren. It was a long weekend, so we brought three of our grandchildren back with us to our home in Henderson.
Kids get hungry, so we stopped that Saturday evening (Jan. 14) at the Wendy’s, located just south of Interstate 20 on Highway 69 near Lindale.
After a nice meal, we headed for Henderson. Upon our arrival, my wife discovered, in her haste to get all three grandchildren fed and in the car, that she had left her purse in the restaurant. We don’t have a lot of money, but there was some cash, credit cards and personal identification in the purse. My wife immediately called the restaurant and they said, yes, they had just discovered the purse. Some young people there had discovered her missing purse and turned it in to the manager on duty there at Wendy’s that night.

Needless to say, we were pleased, first that teenagers would find and turn in the purse and that the manager of the restaurant would tuck it away in their company safe until I could arrive to claim the missing purse.
I regret to say that I didn’t get names of the restaurant personnel who took care of us, nor do I know who those young people were who were honest that cold night in Smith County. But everything was there, untouched.
I just want to say thank you. My faith in human nature remains intact. There are still people in East Texas who do the right thing. For that we are so very grateful.
