Symphony League Winter Fundraiser Features Games
The Women’s Symphony League of Tyler will present two events for “In the Mood for Games,” the Winter Fundraiser.
“Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy Bunko” is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday at The Potpourri House and “Games Day at the USO” will take place 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 24 at Hollytree Country Club.
“As you can tell, we are having a little fun with our1940’s ‘In The Mood’ theme this year,” said Carla Ward, Bunko Night co-chair with Margaret Hayden.
Red, white and blue decorations will be reminiscent of that patriotic time and Games Day will feature the popular East Texas Men in Harmony barbershop singers performing a mini 1940’s USO show at noon.
Mrs. Hayden said those who don’t know how to play Bunko should not worry. “We have produced a video this year showing ladies new to Bunko how to play. They will find it is very easy to learn.”
There also will be instructors at Games Day to teach Mahjong and Bridge for ladies new to those games.
Also new will be the Ultimate Brighton Silent Auction. “We are beyond thrilled that Laura Young with Brighton is donating five fabulous Brighton gifts for Bunko Night and Games Day,” said Leslie Roberts, co-Chair of Games Day with Jill Campbell. “We are so grateful for this extra opportunity Laura is giving attendees to support the Symphony. Brighton offers everything from jewelry and purses to gifts for the home so I know ladies will want to attend both events just to bid on the Ultimate Brighton Silent Auction.”
“And don’t forget about our wonderful door prizes valued at $25 or more,” said Mrs. Campbell. Dillard’s Cosmetics and Fragrances is providing each guest a gift.
Events cost $40 individually or $70 for both.
“We love the fact that so many women come to our Winter Fundraiser in Tyler from out of town,” says Amy Fleming, WSL President.
“We have groups who have been coming for years and we want these ladies to know how much the WSL enjoys hosting them and appreciates their support,” she continued Those wishing to attend, need to contact Jill Campbell at 903-258-0357 or email jillcampbell99@juno.com to make reservations.
There is limited seating for both events.
