Updated Monday, January 16, 2012 at 4:33 p.m. CST
A 58-year-old man from Lancaster, Texas, died from drowning today in an accident at The Villages Marina on Lake Palestine, according to Gary Alfred, Smith County Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace.

Alfred said the man and his wife were guests at the Villages resort, and decided to take a boat out on Lake Palestine to do some fishing. Somehow the boat capsized (how that happened is not yet clear), and the two went into the lake. Despite wearing a life vest, the man died.

His wife, who also was wearing a life vest, was taken to Tyler Mother Frances Hospital, where her condition is unknown.
