Investigation Continues Into Deadly 3-Car Crash
Texas Department of Public Safety troopers continue their investigation into a three-vehicle crash on Highway 69 in Wood County just south of the city of Alba on Tuesday, Trooper Jean Dark said.
The crash that occurred about 9:51 a.m. Tuesday claimed three lives.
Preliminary investigation shows a Honda passenger car was traveling northbound on U.S. 69 when it slowed to make a left turn into a rest area. While the vehicle waited for traffic to clear from the southbound lanes, it was struck from behind by a Dodge pickup truck. The impact sent the Honda into oncoming southbound traffic, where it was broadsided by a Toyota Camry, Dark said in a statement.
The driver of the Dodge pickup, Michael West, 38, of Alba, was killed. The driver of the Toyota Camry, Angela Ann Shoffstall, 74, of Fairview, and the driver of the Honda, Margaret Miller, 69, of Sherman, were airlifted to East Texas Medical Center in Tyler. Ms. Miller reportedly died Thursday from her injuries.
Also killed in the accident was Susan Fincher, 74, of Sherman.
Ms. Fincher, a passenger in the Toyota, was ejected during impact and died at the scene, Dark said.
