Events Set This Week For Local Artisans
Two separate art events scheduled this week are expected to highlight the talents of local artisans amid a backdrop of Tyler history.

Work of five artists goes on display today in downtown’s Gallery Main Street, 110 W. Erwin St., starting with a come-and-go reception from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

“This show is a way to congratulate those who won Best in Show honors in 2010 and to offer a further opportunity to the public to enjoy their work,” Beverly Abell, Tyler Main Street director, said.

Artists featured in the new Gallery Main Street exhibit include Cierra McGuckie, Daniel Kanu, Dolph Miller, Laura Zanetis Post and Dine Frossard.

In a separate event, the first “Art in the Park” is planned for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the 1859 Goodman-LeGrand House and Museum.

The park event, offered through the Tyler Parks and Recreation Department, features the creative endeavors of local artists, demonstrations of different art techniques, plus lectures and presentations.

Art in the Park information is available by calling Patricia Heaton at 903-531-1286.

Gallery Main Street is a collaborative effort of the Main Street Department and Downtown Arts Coalition.

Admission to both events is free, and the public is invited to attend.
