District attorneys from the two other East Texas counties where churches were destroyed by arson earlier this year say they plan to prosecute the two men who pleaded guilty to the crimes in Smith County on Wednesday.
Henderson County District Attorney Scott McKee said Jason Robert Bourque, 20, and Daniel George McAllister, 22, still need to be held responsible for their crimes.
“I work for the people of those churches and we hope to seek justice for our citizens as well,” McKee said today.
Both Leslie Dixon, who is retiring as the Van Zandt County District Attorney in about two weeks, and Chris Martin, the incoming district attorney for that county, also said they have plans to prosecute Bourque and McAllister.
“We'll be bringing both defendants back to Van Zandt County after Smith County sentences them,” Martin said. He said he was unable to comment on the specifics about how the cases will be handled until he speaks to the two defense attorneys who represent Bourque and McAllister.
