Comptroller Rates Tyler ISD Unfavorable On Use Of Money To Produce Academic Performance
Tyler ISD received an unfavorable review today in a Texas Comptroller Office report on how well school districts use money to produce high academic performance.
The district received two stars showing little academic progress relative to its spending, according to the report.
In a statement released by TISD today, officials said the results are based on 2- to 3-year-old data and are “intended as an effort to help school districts identify areas of efficiency in operations.”
“As we further evaluate the findings of this report and details related to the ratings assigned to our district, we hope to collect additional information that will help us attain our ultimate goals of academic excellence and operational efficiency.”
Several local school districts received strong ratings including Canton ISD and Jacksonville ISD, which both received five stars, according to information on the comptroller’s website.
This means the districts have strong academic performance relative to the amount of money spent.
The report, requested by the 2009 Legislature, draws upon data from the Texas Education Agency and other sources.
