Celebration Of Texas History To Be Held At Willow Brook
The Camp Ford Historical Association Inc. has scheduled an evening "to honor and celebrate Texas," to be held Friday at Willow Brook Country Club, association Vice President of Development Ann Lawrence said.

Guest speaker will be J.P. Bryan, an entrepreneur and collector of Texana, whose presentation is titled "Texas is the Greatest State with the Greatest History of any State in the Union."

Bryan has been a banker, investment banker and mortgage banker, with a specialty in oil and gas finance, and formed Torch Energy in 1981.

"From then to the present, Torch has purchased more than $3 billion in producing oil and gas properties, sponsored six public companies and numerous private enterprises. For his efforts in creating and building Torch, (he) was recognized as Entrepreneur of the Year in 1995," according to biographical information supplied by Bryan.

There will be a cocktail hour before the program so that guests can see and bid on many objects of interest in the silent auction. Special items are scheduled to be auctioned off by an auctioneer, Ms. Lawrence said.

The cost is $50 per person or $100 per couple. A cash bar will be available.

The historical association is inviting heads of businesses and companies to sponsor tables of eight at different levels: $500, silver, table of eight; $1,000, gold, two tables of eight; $1,500, platinum, three tables of eight.

Anyone sponsoring tables will have a card of recognition designating the sponsorship on the tables. If you choose to make a corporate gift, there will be a card of recognition for the gift.

The historical association welcomes donations of artifacts, events, trips or other gifts for the silent auction. For information, contact Maxine Herbst at 903-593-4642 or Ms. Lawrence at 903-592-8679. Donations are tax deductible.
