Turned To Rubble
Demolition takes place Thursday on Andy Woods Elementary School. The school opened in November 1956 as an 18-classroom building, constructed for about $420,000. The school was named in honor of Thomas Andrew Woods, a longtime physical education teacher and coach at Tyler's Hogg Junior High. A new Woods, one of the five replacement campuses being built as part of the $124.9 million bond program that TISD voters approved in 2008, will open in August.— Staff Photos By Christopher R. Vinn
