Texas College Softball Loses Two

Texas College continued to get behind the eight-ball.

Ending an eight-game home stand, Texas College committed eight errors and allowed eight unearned runs to drop both ends of a doubleheader against Sterling College (Kan.) by scores of 3-1 and 9-0 Wednesday at Fun Forest Park.

A sterling performance most of the day on defense proved not enough for Texas College (0-15) against a Sterling team which played error-free for all 14 innings.

In its closest call to date, the Lady Steers scored first after Keara Green reached on a walk, moved to second after Roxanne Martinez's free pass and trotted home on Christian Fisher's RBI-single to center field.

TC managed only one hit the rest of the way, allowing Sterling to tie the game in the third after a fielding error, coupled with Aubri Brock's RBI-single to score Alyssa Bell.

The game remained deadlocked until the fifth when Chelsea Sanchez singled, swiped second base and on the same sequence scored after the throw to second trickled past TC's Jennifer Dews in center field.

TC turned two double plays in the contest, with second baseman Lennette Walker on the tail end of both.

Jour'Dan Gardner gave up just six hits and zero earned runs in the first game. The TC freshman tired out in the second game.
