Deputies Investigate Alleged Beating
Smith County Sheriff's Of­fice deputies are investigating the alleged beating of a mo­torist after he hit several vehicles.

According to a police re­port, the incident happened on County Road 485 shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday.

The report states the driver was pulled from his vehicle and assaulted by pedestrians. He then was taken by private vehicle to a local hospital.

The man's condition was not known, but deputies at the scene issued at least one citation.


BURGLARY
  • A vehicle reportedly was burglarized in the 4800 block of Paluxy Drive where the suspects took a compact disc player and caused some damage to the vehicle.

  • A car reportedly was broken into in a church parking lot. A woman re­ported that her purse, holding her checkbook, identification, credit and debit cards, was stolen.

  • A home on Farm-to-Market Road 2767 reportedly was burglarized and ransacked. It was unclear whe­ther anything was taken.

  • Copper reportedly was stolen from deceased man's home on County Road 2133.

  • A shotgun and GPS unit reportedly were stolen from a vehicle on U.S. Highway 271.

  • Several items reportedly were missing after an alleged break-in on Lake Forest Drive.


  • THEFT
    A trailer reportedly was stolen from a business on Texas Highway 155 south.
