Campus Notepad: Parent Services Parenting Conference Is Saturday
Parent Services Center's Par­enting Conference features parenting educator and KidWISE In­stitute Inc. founder Paula Stat­man. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church Family Life Center, 4202 S. Broadway Ave., in Tyler.

Statman, a noted author, educator and psychotherapist, will present information about practical tools for promoting healthy families. She will focus on how to help children safely pass through childhood and adolescence.


Clarkston
Free Sign Language Classes will be held in the Clarkston Ele­men­tary School cafeteria Mon­day nights starting this week through April 12. The classes, from 6 to 7 p.m., are open to people of all ages. Call 903-262-1980 or e-mail Lindsey.zea@tylerisd.org for more information.


Orr
Orr Elementary will host a Family Learning Night for third- through fifth-graders and their parents from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the school cafeteria. Science projects will be displayed, and a free pizza supper will be offered.


Dogan
Parent report card pick-up will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday in the school cafeteria. Parents are asked to come to the cafeteria to pick up their students fourth six-weeks report cards. This is an opportunity for parents and teachers to interact and voice concerns.


Stewart
Stewart Middle School will hold the Gopher Boxcar Derby from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday. The Derby, which the school plans to hold annually, is part of a grant from The Tyler ISD Foun­dation and is designed to help students focus on math and science concepts. Parents are invited to see the cars. Friday's festivities will include judging of the finished product, races and awards. It will culminate in a demolition derby.


Head Start
Tyler ISD is accepting applications for the federally funded Head Start Program through May 14. The program serves pri­marily low-income children and their families. It is open to children who turn 4 on or before Sept. 1. Three-year-olds with certain diagnosed disabilities also will be considered. All families must meet federal income guidelines.

In order to register, parents or guardians must bring the following: proof of income, the child's birth certificate and im­mu­nization record, Social Sec­urity cards for all family members, proof of current address, and a driver's license or other picture ID. All Saints
Spring pictures will be taken at the Lower School on Wed­nesday. Children may wear their choice of spring outfit, according to the dress code guidelines es­tablished in the handbook. On Thursday, children in 4K, 5K and Primer will enjoy the Babar Puppet Show on campus. Students in 4K through fourth grade will attend an assembly at 1:30 p.m. Friday. The presentation will be given by Karen Land, Iditarod dog musher.

Odyssey of the Mind teams will compete in the Regional tour­nament on Saturday at South­lake Carroll High School.

Spring break is the week of March 8 through 12.

Students in 5K will take a field trip to the planetarium on March 16. Students in 4K will take a field trip to the Farm at Camp Tyler on March 18.

All students in the inter­mediate school and middle school will have spring pictures made on Wednesday. Students may be in casual dress. Middle school cheerleader tryouts will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday.


Brook Hill
Returning families applying for tuition assistance must file online by Monday. The Brook Hill School Used Uniform Shop will be open Monday.

The Lower School book fair begins this week. The Lower School Fine Arts Showcase will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Art awards will be presented to students in pre-K through second grade during chapel on Wednesday.

The Fort Worth Children's Opera will be held at the Lower School at 2 p.m. Thursday.

The Brook Hill School will hold a FAFSA workshop for seniors and their parents at 6 p.m. Thursday.

The Middle School and Upper School will hold the TAPPS Academic Meet in Ornelas Hall on Friday.

The Lower School will hold an assembly with the Iditarod speaker.


ETCA
High school students are collecting school supplies in preparation for the 10th Annual Spring Break Mission Trip to St. Louis. Students will take the supplies and work with two inner-city elementary schools.

Students will take spring portraits Tuesday.


Gorman
Gorman Class of 2010 will participate in the annual spiritual retreat Monday through Wednes­day. Students will be released at 2:20 p.m. Tuesday to allow for a faculty meeting.

Seventh- and eighth-graders will take an art field trip to the Fort Worth museums on Thurs­day. Gorman student leaders will coordinate the Annual Youth Rally, a day of praise and worship, on Friday. Spring break is March 8-12.


Growing Stick
The Growing Stick theme for this week is circus. The school will hold a mini-circus parade act in the gym at 8:45 a.m. Friday. PC Kidz will be Tuesday morning, and Tumblebus will be Tuesday afternoon. Dance with Me Classes will be Thursday afternoon. The school is getting ready to put up the March bulletin board and needs parents to help. Bring a small picture of your child for the school to use.

Spring Fundraisers have gone out and are due back with the money by 10 a.m. March 16.

Summer Registration forms are due back with summer supply fee money by 10 a.m. March 11.


St. Gregory
Deadline for early registration for the 2010-11 school year is Monday. Contact the school office for admission information. Fifth-graders will be at the Pines Camp on Tuesday through Friday. First-graders will take a field trip to Edom Farm on Wed­nesday.

Students will be released at 2 p.m. Friday. Spring break is March 8 through 12.


Stepping Stone
Stepping Stone will take in­dividual spring photos Monday through Wednesday. Elementary and middle school students may have free dress day Mon­day for the photos.

Stepping Stone pre-K classes will be going to the Taylor Auditorium from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday for "Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss." Field trip uniform is required.

Stepping Stone Elementary and C. Brown Middle School will be closed March 8 through 12 for Spring Break. After-school care is available with sign up.


Arp
Head Start, pre-K and early education registration will be held at Arp Elementary School starting March 8. Any parents interested in these programs for the 2010-11 school year should visit the Arp Elementary school office between 7 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. for an interview and registration. Children must turn 4 by Sept. 1, 2010, to qualify for the 4-year-old program. The school district is considering a 3-year-old program, so if your child will turn 3 by Sept. 1, you can register. The district will notify parents if the 3-year-old program is started.

The state requires the following documents for registration: child's certified birth certificate, complete immunization records, copy of his/her Social Security card, proof of residence and proof of income. Lindale
Lindale High School Speech and Debate Showcase will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday. The event includes a spaghetti dinner. The school asks you bring a used printer cartridge or a tree for planting to support the environment. RSVP to jcaldwell@lind.sprnet.org by today.
