Tyler Mayor Barbara Bass is planning to file for re-election today, the first day city candidates can file for the May elections.
Mayor Pro Tem and District 2 Councilman Donald Sanders said he will also seek re-election.
City Council District 4 and 6 seats are also up for election. Councilmen Chris Simons and Charles Alworth, respectively, are prohibited from running again because of term limits and several people have announced their intent to run for the positions.
Local businessman Martin Heines, 46, plans to campaign for Tyler City Council District 4.
Kara Hodges Camp, 47, Kevin Halbert, 51, and Jason Wright, 34, have all announced their intentions to run for the Tyler City Council District 6 seat.
The first official day to file for re-election was Saturday but because city offices are closed for the weekend, candidates will get the first chance to put their names in the running today. Those seeking to be elected for a city position can file with the city clerk until March 8.
