Tyler police are seeking help in locating a man they say threw a 3-week-old baby during a Sunday evening argument before pulling a handgun on the child's mother.
Don Martin, Tyler Police Department public information officer, said 30-year-old Kenneth Hunter is being sought on a Texas Department of Criminal Justice warrant for a parole violation.
He is also being sought for the incident yesterday on Barnes Street where he allegedly threw the infant at the child's mother during a dispute.
Police said the child landed on its forehead and was taken by EMS to Mother Frances Hospital, where it was hospitalized for treatment which included additional testing due to swelling.
There is no further indication of the child's condition at this time.
Martin said after the child's mother returned home to call police, Hunter showed up there and pointed a firearm at her before he fled the area.
Hunter may face additional charges stemming from the Sunday incident with the child and mother, perhaps felony injury to a child and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Smith County judicial records indicate Hunter has been jailed previously on charges of engaging in organized criminal activity and burglary.
Anyone with knowledge of Hunter's whereabouts is asked to contact their local law enforcement agency or the Tyler/Smith County Crimestoppers at 903-597-2833.
