Campus Notepad: Tyler ISD Observes MLK Day
Tyler ISD is closed Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Griffin
Griffin Elementary students will have a Martin Luther King Jr. program from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday in the gym.
Owens
Owens Elementary will have "Donuts for Dad" from 6:30 to 8 a.m. Friday in the gym. Donuts, coffee and orange juice will be served.
Peete
The students and staff at Peete Elementary will have an Arbor Day celebration at 9:30 a.m. Friday. Following the ceremony, students will watch members of the Tyler Tree's Committee plant a tree.
Hogg
Hogg Middle School will have a fifth-grade parent night from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the band hall. Students and parents are invited to meet teachers and visit classrooms. Hogg offers advanced studies programs such as the IB Middle Years Program and pre-AP. AVID is also featured.
The Hogg Theatre Department presents "Thoroughly Modern Millie Junior" at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Caldwell Auditorium. The play is set in New York in 1922. There is no cost to attend.
All Saints
A preview of the program for 4-year-olds at All Saints Episcopal School is 9 a.m. Saturday in the auditorium of the Lower School.

ETCA
Monday is a school holiday at East Texas Christian Academy in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
ETCA is collecting canned soup for the 2010 PATH "Souper Bowl" through the month of January.
Gorman
There is no school Monday at Bishop T.K. Gorman Catholic School in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr./Civil Rights Day.
The Gorman Athletic Booster Club has its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the cafeteria.
The Gorman Academic and Fine Arts Advisory Council has its spring meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Holy Family Library.
Grace
There is no school for all grades at Grace Community School Monday in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Growing Stick
The Growing Stick's theme for this week is transportation.
"Tumblebus" is Tuesday afternoon. On Thursday, the pre-kindergarten students go on a field trip to the Cotton Belt Depot Railroad Museum. "Dance with Me" classes are that afternoon. Friday is "Donuts with Dad."
St. Gregory
There is no school Monday at St. Gregory Catholic School in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
