Margaret Eloise Sanders
A memorial service for Mrs. Margaret Eloise Sanders, 89, of Tyler will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at First Christian Church in Pasadena, 4848 Preston Road, 77505-2066. Officiating will be the Revs. David Everton and Rhona Brink. Arrangements are under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.

She was born March 10, 1920, in Idabel, Okla., to Jessie and O.B. Hubbard. She resided in Pasadena for 58 years before moving to Tyler in May 2008.
Mrs. Sanders was a member of First Chris-tian Church in Pasadena, where she previously served as president and treasurer of the Christian’s Women’s Fellowship. She was a member and past president of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, Xi Zeta Eta chapter. Mrs. Sanders was a charter member of Friends of Devereux, a nonprofit organization specializing in the treatment of children with emotional and developmental problems.
Mrs. Sanders graduated from high school in Idabel in 1938, and received a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Oklahoma State in 1942, and then a Master of Arts in Education from the University of Houston in 1961. She was employed as a school teacher by Pasadena Independent School District and retired in May of 1985, after 38 years of service. She was extremely active during her 24 years of retirement. She loved to travel and was very involved with her church and various community service activities. Those who knew her have described her as compassionate, fair and always willing to go the extra mile to help everyone.
Mrs. Sanders was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 36 years, Hal Thomas Sanders.
Margaret is survived by her son, Tom Sanders and wife Jean of Tyler; and grandsons, Ben Sanders of Anna and Luke Sanders of Orange.
