Kitson To Address Conference
Child-care providers will have the opportunity to see Jane Kitson, a.k.a. Mother Goose, in action at the 25th Annual Child Care Conference on Jan. 23 at First Baptist Church in Jacksonville, said Patrice L. Dunagin, Smith County Extension agent in family development.
Registration will begin at 8 a.m., followed by interactive sessions, lunch and make-and-take activities. The conference will conclude at 4 p.m. with evaluations and certification. Seven hours of in-service training credit will be given to participants, Ms. Dunagin said.
Ms. Kitson is an early childhood educational consultant and published author of more than 350 original songs and finger plays. She has shared interactive presentations with more than 78,000 early childhood professionals in 46 states and Canada.
"Jane's hands-on techniques are the result of 27 years of experience in the early childhood classroom. She speaks at more than 24 training events each year and works with over 5,000 children, sharing nine different programs as Mother Goose," she said.
The $35 registration fee postmarked by Jan. 15 includes morning breaks, lunch, resources and make/take materials. Late registration or registration at the door will be $50.
New this year will be vendor booths that will be available for participants to view from 8 a.m. through lunch. Also new will be the make-it and take-it sessions spread throughout the day.
Directors will have an opportunity to receive three hours in management and individuals teaching newborn through 2 years will be able to receive the yearly SIDS, Shaken Baby Syndrome and Early Brain Development training that is required by the state of Texas, Ms. Dunagin said.
