James Allen Campbell
HIDEAWAY — Funeral services for James Allen Campbell, age 88, of Hideaway, will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, in the chapel at Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Home in Lindale. Private burial will follow at Tyler Memorial Park.
He passed away peacefully in his sleep Nov. 27, 2009, at home.
Mr. Campbell was born Nov. 7, 1921, in Covington, Tenn., to parents, John Gordon Campbell and Erma Rose Campbell. He grew up in Tyler, and served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. He graduated from Tyler High School and Tyler Junior College before marrying the former Billie Kay Barton in June 1947. He attended SMU and graduated cum laude with a degree in accounting in 1950. They were blessed with two children. He worked heartily for Oilwell Supply, Division of US Steel, for 31 years until he retired in 1984, at which time the couple moved to Hideaway. At Hideaway he was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lindale, was active in the Men's Golf Association, and served for one term on the board finance committee. He loved his family, golf, their many friends and his dog.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years; his son, Henry Alan Campbell and wife Beth of Carrollton; his daughter, Cathy Campbell Tuohy and husband David of Lubbock; five grandchildren, Heather Campbell Waloski (Eric), Brandon Christopher Campbell, Jennifer Renee Campbell, Travis Allen Tuohy, and Nicole Tuohy Talley (Mikel); two great-grandchildren, Conner Talley and Katelyn Waloski; his sister, Elizabeth Campbell Pinkerton of Tyler; his brother, John Gordon Campbell of Baton Rouge, La.; many nieces and nephews; and many other friends and dearly loved ones.
