Campus Notepad: TISD Campuses Closed This Week For Thanksgiving
Tyler ISD campuses and offices are closed Monday through Friday of this week for the Thanksgiving holiday.
All Saints
The All Saints Chess Team will continue to participate in the Texas Grade Chess Championship in Houston today.
All Saints Episcopal School will be closed for Thanksgiving Monday through Friday.
Grade level collections of items for the November service project which benefits the Children's Advocacy Center of Smith County will continue through Dec. 3.
ETCA
East Texas Christian Academy will be closed this week to celebrate Thanksgiving.
Gorman
Students at Bishop T.K. Gorman Catholic School will be released at 12:20 p.m. Tuesday to begin the Thanksgiving holiday.
Gorman students will be off from school Wednesday through Nov. 29.
Grace
The final day for the Operation Christmas Child box drop off is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at the Grace high school campus. Shoeboxes packaged for children overseas may be dropped off by individuals, churches and groups. To find out more about how to package the boxes and what to include, visit www.samaritanspurse.org.
There will be no school for all Grace students Monday through Friday for Thanksgiving break.
Growing Stick
The Growing Stick theme for this week is Thanksgiving. The preschool will have "PC Kidz" and "Tumblebus" Tuesday.
The school will be closed Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving.
Stepping Stone
Stepping Stone/C. Brown Middle School students will take "Operation Christmas Child" boxes to Grace Community High School on Monday.
Progress reports go home Tuesday for kindergarten through eighth grade.
Classroom "Thanksgiving Feasts" are Tuesday during students' regular lunch times.
Stepping Stone/C. Brown Middle School will be closed Wednesday. After school care will be available, but sign up is required.
The school will also be closed Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving. No care will be available.
St. Gregory
Still-life drawings will be on display Monday in the St. Gregory Catholic School library wing following the school-wide study of artist Paul Cezanne.
There will be a "Thanksgiving Feast" at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Gregory. Parents are invited to join the student body for this annual St. Gregory tradition in the gym. School will be dismissed at noon, following the feast.
St. Gregory will not have school Wednesday through Friday for Thanksgiving.
Winona ISD
The Winona ISD Libraries will celebrate the holiday season by participating in a nationwide program called "The Great Bedtime Story Pajama Drive," which aims to give 20,000 children new pajamas and books. The program is sponsored by Scholastic Book Club and benefits the Pajama Program (www.pajamaprogram.com), a non-profit organization which provides more than 100,000 pajamas and books to children in need every year.
Students are asked to bring a new pair of pajamas to school by Dec. 1 to turn in at the libraries. All sizes from infant to adult are needed. Pajamas in children's sizes must be flame retardant and safe.
