Tyler Man A Repeat Pigskin Picks Winner
“Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad,” musician Meat Loaf sang in his 1977 hit single. For verification, just ask Dallas Wagner of Tyler.
For the second time in three weeks, Wagner was the weekly winner in the Tyler Paper's Pigskin Picks contest. He was the only contestant to correctly pick the winners in all 10 games.
In fact, the last three weekly winners in the contest come from the same pew at Green Acres Baptist Church.
“The lady who won last week (Sandy Edwards) sits next to my family on the same pew at church,” Wagner wrote in a Monday e-mail. “I wonder if that has any bearing?”
Wagner, whose son Luke plays quarterback for Robert E. Lee, will receive a $25 gift certificate to Clear Springs restaurant in Tyler. He is the only player among the 543 registered to win more than once during the season.
Finishing second through fifth, respectively, were Patrick Davis of Flint, Jim Salzer of Davenport, Ia., Jerry Stroud of Grand Saline and Dave Morse of Sanger.
The Pigskin Picks grand prize winner will be announced Tuesday morning on TylerPaper.com.
