PATH In Need Of Coats For Kids
PATH's Coats for Kids Drive is coming to an end and more donations are needed.

"Our goal was to collect 2,500 coats this year. Right now, we have about half that," said Christina Fulsom, PATH's executive director. "The worst-case scenario is that we may have to turn children away at the distribution. We have never had to do that and it's certainly not something we want to experience."

New coat donations may be taken to PATH while gently used winter coats can be taken to participating area dry cleaners including Dry Clean Super Center, Eagle Cleaners, Hart's Cleaners, Lucky's Cleaners, Regency Cleaners, Shannon's Cleaners, VIP Cleaners and West Gentry Dry Cleaners.

"The Coats for Kids drive is always hugely successful with both our donors and the kids who receive the coats," she said. "Their faces just light up when they pick out their new coat."

PATH hopes to collect at least 400 coats by the end of the week.

Ms. Fulsom said it is not too late to donate.

"Please, if you are out shopping, pick up a coat for about $15-$20. Or, clean out your children's closets and bring your coats to one of our participating dry cleaners," she added.

Donors may go to the PATH Web site -- tylerpath.org -- and donate through the online donation page.
